Rivalry Week

The last weekend of CFB arrives with an exciting slate of Rivalry Week

Welcome back to the Campus Talks newsletter

And we are back, everyone. You may have noticed your inbox has felt a little empty lately, missing your favorite weekly newsletter (that's this newsletter FYI.) Life has been a little busy lately, but mostly we've been reviewing the playbook of the Campus Talks newsletter and reworking some things to set the newsletter up for future growth and success. You'll notice some slight changes over the coming weeks, but all this means is more incredible content delivered directly to you. Apologies on the lack of newsletters lately, but definitely appreciate everyone patiently waiting for us to come back and sharing with your friends about the newsletter. We're going to keep this weeks newsletter brief as we get back up and running.

So what's happened since we last talked?

Well for starters, we've gotten more active on Twitter and started connecting with a lot of other college sports fanatics like ourselves. Give us a follow here for more great Campus Talks action.

Next, College Football has been chaotic. We sadly head into the last week of the regular season. This weekend is one of the best weekends as well with rivalry week. We currently have a solid top 4 of undefeated teams shaping up the playoff, so all eyes will be on them if these schools can win out (the way the last few weeks have gone, I wouldn't count on it.)

Last, College Basketball has kicked off. There's already been some incredible games and a lot of interesting storylines for this season. We'll have our CBB headlines in next week's issue as we focus on CFB rivalry weekend in this issue.

Now, let's recap and look ahead to the weekend slate. (Link to web version, can play videos directly in tweets there)

Week 12 CFB Recaps

  • TCU survives with a walk off field goal: TCU continued its incredible and unexpected season by remaining undefeated with a walk off field goal. The last sequence was madness. TCU 29 - Baylor 28 (Baylor +2.5 covers)

  • Michigan seals comeback victory with late field goal: Michigan was on the ropes against Illinois last weekend, but they did what top teams do and found a way to win late. They'll face off against Ohio State this weekend where both schools will be facing each other with an 11-0 for the 9th time in their historic rivalry. Michigan 19 - Illinois 17 (Illinois +17 covers)

  • Tennessee's playoff hopes crushed : Tennessee was throttled by South Carolina last weekend, pretty much ending their playoff hopes. Heisman hopeful Hendon Hooker suffered a torn ACL, ending his decorated college career in heartbreaking fashion. Once considered one of the top recruits ever, Spencer Rattler finally showed some flashes of that by throwing for 438 yards and 6 TDs. South Carolina 63 - Tennessee 38 (South Carolina +22.5 covers)

  • USC keeps playoff hopes alive: While we were away, USC has been the lone PAC 12 school to keep themselves at 1 loss. This has them up to 6th in the latest CFP ranking. They fought off a tough UCLA team last weekend in what was an incredible back and forth matchup. They'll look to win out against Notre Dame this weekend and then the PAC 12 championship game in two weekends. USC 48 - UCLA 45 (USC -2.5 covers)
